Our episodes fall into several categories: History, Plots, Analysis, Book/TV Discussion, and Bonus.
“History” episodes are usually spoiler-free though we use material from all sources, since historical facts from later books do not spoil the plot. George scatters these great details throughout all the materials, and we gather all that together to illuminate those hidden stories. A good way to learn about the ancestors and traditions of your favorite characters and houses, and often we see parallels to the current storyline.
“Plots” episodes are always spoiler-filled and focus on current events in the series, with predictions, theories and major analysis. This is where we really read between the lines. GRRM has written 5 main aSoIaF novels but there’s a 6th book written between the lines, and we bring that to life as best as we can.
“Analysis” episodes cover an entire piece of material such as “The Lands of Ice and Fire” or spoiler chapters/excerpts from unreleased books such as “The Princess and the Queen” (out next month!) Analysis episodes dedicated to “The Winds of Winter” are labelled as such instead of “Analysis”.
“Discussion” (TV or Book) episodes are less scripted (95% of our other episodes are entirely scripted) and usually involve guests. We converse on special topics or major events. Our episode on The Red Wedding is a good example.
“Bonus” episodes are short and cover small topics that deserve attention but don’t fit under the umbrella of a larger topic. Since we are committed to putting out an episode every two weeks, there will be a lot of these in the future, but rarely twice in a row.
